Our neighborhood marina.  We're the only boat wita a big stick on the boat!

Moving day part two

So I called the marina Monday morning and talked to the shop foreman.  I asked him to look at the motor and see what he could do,  This marina has a very good reputation with outboards.    He called back later that day and said he didn't know how you got as far as you did on that motor.  Proceded to give a litney of what was wrong with the motor.  We bit the bullet and had him fix it.  We shoved off for the Chester river early on a Wednesday morning.  Wind out of the NE at 12-15.  We flew across the bay at 5 knots and made the Chester river in an hour.  Another hour and we  were at our new home.

Moving day

We found the boat in Edgewater at a very nice marina right off the South River.  We went into this knowing the motor was suspect.  It would not start.  Marina guy said it was the stator.  I took the motor to an interesting shop.  American Outboard Salvage.  That guy got it running.   We had two options.  Keep the boat at the marina on the south river for the winter or mover the boat to the neighborhood.  It's October so the Chesapeake can be dicey this time of year.  We picked a Sunday.  Weather was forecast 6-8 knots from the south.  That forecast would have us on a run all the way.  Our trip was about 15 miles.  We started out the river under power.  Problems started right away.  The motor would not run unless the fuel primer bulb was constantly pumped.  We got out to Thomas Point Light and decided to put the sails up.  No wind.  We bobbed around for about an hour and only made about a ...

Bought the boat

We recently moved into a neighborhood that has a beach, clubhouse, and a marina.  We had an Alberg 30 so you would think that would be a good fit right?  Wrong.  The marina only allows boats with a max length of 25 feet.  So, we sold the Alberg. We bought this and she will fit in the marina nicely.   The fellow we bought it from had it for 35 years.  He was an older guy and I know it broke his heart.   She had been sitting since 2014 when he was told by drs he couldn't sail anymore. The boat is sound but needs updating.  We'll be documenting that restoration here.
